27 August 2004; Tying up Lose Ends

I'm actually headed up to the reserve this morning.

I've got a few things to tie up despite having had the opening nearly a month ago now. It's so much nicer up there than it used to be. In their own ways the fires were almost a blessing. We've rebuilt most of the staff cabins, the dining hall was expanded, and we've got newer separate pens for birthing or other dragons that need special care. It's exciting, and I always love the time up there - away from an office and in the outdoors.

Overnight unfortunately, but I'll be back on Friday afternoon. You think you and Sophie can survive that long without me?

15 August 2004; Fortune favours the brave...

All right, so next time I go to Wok 'n' Roll I would like a slightly better fortune please. Something like, 'you will find gold today' or 'You will be a delight to everyone you meet'.

These would be quite nice, really.

In the meantime, Sophie has mastered her letters, which is resulting in an 'owl' delivered to my desk every ten minutes, by none other than Sophie, the owl. It's all quite adorable, if somewhat distracting.

12 August 2004: Busy with dragons and so forth.

It's a relief to have the dragon reserve open again, and to have gone well. I've spent most of last week and then the first part of this week just checking on things, making certain that they're working as they should and so forth. And really, it looks nice. It's much improved over what it was before the fire because we were able to re-evaluate needs and rebuild in a way that made sense for what those needs actually were. In the end the dragons will benefit as will those who work with them frequently.

Honestly, it's been good to be working for the Federation and I've truly enjoyed being involved with this project. It's certainly put me back in a hands on sort of position working with dragons and I've missed that. The past six months have honestly been the best of both worlds, really. I get to commute in from London so it's easy for me to stay with my family but still have some hands on work with dragons.

26 July 2004: Matrimony

I don't think there's anything quite like watching your younger brother get married to make you reevaluate your own marriage and your life. And I think, watching him and Hermione - I'm so thankful for my own marriage and I hope that Hermione and Ron are very, very happy together.

And of course, it's nearly always a wonderful thing to see family.

15 July 2004: Busy as a bee

Merlin.

I think that's all I really have to say. Summers are always quite busy, it seems, but with the opening of the reserve looming ever closer, it's just been whirlwind. Not to mention my ickle brother Ron getting married! One can't miss these types of events, although I've got to say, Fred, George, at the dangerous risk of sounding like Mum, are you two going to have your feet in the grave before you pop the question for some girl?

Any rate, I should be spending a bit more time out at the reserve in Wales this week, then we've got the wedding, then the opening will follow that pretty close on, so who knows when the next time I'll have a chance to pick this up and write things down in it might be, but ah well. Such is the life of a busy individual, I'd say.

And is it just me, or are their a number of dogs lurking about Euphoria Lane today?

6 June 2004: Back to Wales.

It is a little more than disturbing to me that Greyback has 'fans'. Are people absolutely insane? No, wait, it's probable they are. We ran into werewolves from time to time in Romania, sometimes decent people that just wanted to not hurt anyone during the full moon, and others more like Greyback, although never any with quite his... evilness.

It's just not a pretty thought, really.

And I'm back up at the reserve this week. It is getting closer to being finished up there, but there's still a bit to go. We're hoping to have it completed by July. That's the plan anyway.

28 May 2004: In Wales for the evening.

Anyone else having difficulty walking today? It was fine once I left for Wales, but the entire morning it was backwards until I Apparated out of the Lane, and then normal again. Definitely a bit difficult, I'd say.

19 May 2004: Decidedly odd.

I'll give Sophie this. She's adapted to this gender swapping thing far more easily than I have. I suppose it's an outcome of being very young and thus, quite adaptable. Seems to think it's quite a giggle. She's been calling me 'Mum' all day and Hestia 'Dad', and I'm telling you it's ridiculously confusing cause I keep answering to Dad and Tia to Mum, and then Sophie will giggle at us, and it's actually enough to make me want to laugh at ourselves, really.

I think I must be getting old. Although the amount of hair on my head would suggest otherwise. I haven't had a head this full of hair since I was fifteen and it never was this long. It'd drive me insane, I don't know how Bill did it.

Apparently if we'd been reading our journals this would have all made a lot more sense.

9 May 2004: Of Births and things?

Well we're pregnant.

Er... Dragon that is. There's a Welsh Green up at the camp that will probably lay eggs any day now. While I always enjoy watching dragon Mum's, it's not the best of timing. Sophie, of course, is absolutely delighted. When I mentioned it earlier this evening she went into this phase where she pulled out all of her dragon toys, and she's been trying to find small balls that she can use as eggs. Hopefully she won't be getting actual eggs out since I'm certain they'll begin to smell up the house sooner or later.

1 May 2004: Wales.

It really is gorgeous up here. I really do prefer the country to the city. Although it's not as comfortable quarters wise as it has been.

I think Sophie's really enjoying the woods and being shown around where I've been. And hopefully she'll not be so upset when I leave now.

I've had my nose so in work that I've hardly been able to pay attention to the news. I suppose I should do that a bit, maybe before bed.
